TCLF Program Accepting Applications

The Tom Case Leadership Fellows program is a unique opportunity for CBPP Juniors, Seniors or Graduate students, and we're getting ready to select the 2021-22 cohort.

As a Fellow, you'll be paired with a mentor in the business community. Fellows meet throughout the year to discuss leadership and what it means to the community and to UAA. In smaller groups, Fellows also plan and participate in meaningful community engagement projects.

Applications for next year's Fellows are being accepted through February.

How to Apply

The asks a number of questions, so get a head start by gathering the following:

  • University/community involvement and the years associated with each
  • Awards/scholarships and the years associated with each
  • Career aspirations
  • Hobbies/special interests
  • Why are you a good candidate for the program? (200-300 word essay)
  • Your expectations of the program and what you hope to gain from the experience.
  • Name/contact info of a CBPP faculty member who can act as a professional reference.

鈥淭CLF has given me an edge in so many areas such as: articulating myself (even in front of senior management), building connections with my cohort and mentor, team self-directed project management, collaboration, and service-based leadership.鈥� For the service component of the Fellowship, Amanda鈥檚 cohort planned workshops for high school students on resume writing and interview skills. 鈥淢onths of planning, logistics, and coffee shop pow-wows turned into a lasting impact on the students we had the privilege of interacting with. Throughout this process, our cohort became very cohesive and we are all now lasting friends.鈥�

鈥淭he Tom Case Leadership Fellows Program provided an opportunity for me to engage with and learn from a mentor, fellow students, and community partners. My mentor was an excellent match for my chosen industry and career aspirations. Through the mentorship, I participated in a statewide healthcare improvement project and gained invaluable experience and connections. For the community service project, we helped organize the annual Ski 4 Kids event, allowing me to hone my leadership skills while giving back to our community. I wholeheartedly recommend the Leadership Fellows Program for students who want to enrich their academics with real-world experience.鈥�
